model making Paris style…….

Our visit to the Paris American Academy included learning about their course objectives and project statements.  Model making is emphasized and the Villa students were very impressed with the quality of the Paris students’ work. Here Professor Christophe Salade is explaining a residential design studio project to student Ginny Gallersdorfer and alum Danielle Bishop.  The size of studio space is smaller than at Villa, but the quality of work is not compromised at all.  In fact, the Villa students were very impressed with the studio outcomes of their compatriots in Paris. Multiple projects were shared, including a loft design, a house design and several examples of product design.  Student assignments are very similar to Villa requirements and the loft design used a familiar site for the students…..it was their studio space.  There was much attention paid to both detail and quality of craftsmanship. Students at Villa may want to consider the summer programs at the Paris American Academy.  http://parisamericanacademy.fr/PAA/Programs.html They have programs in interior design, fashion, which includes both design and merchandising, fine arts and creative writing. The instructional language is English and the student body is very culturally diverse.  For some of these students, English will not be their first language, so attention to grammar and other linguistic rules is evidenced……
